Airline operations manager — employer requirements guide

On this page — jump to a section

Airline operations managers lead people, resources and operational support within a defined company structure. The title can describe shift supervision, departmental management or a formally nominated position; these are not interchangeable. Royal Jet provides the airline example here. Pacific Aviation is an airport-handling provider with a related flight-dispatch management post, not an airline certificate-holder appointment.

Text description

Six example functions share information around a turnaround: flight and cabin teams, ground coordination, passenger and baggage teams, cargo and load-information teams, aircraft servicing, and the maintenance interface. The boxes are relationships, not a task sequence or physical parking layout. Actual responsibilities, sequencing and permissions belong to the operator and service providers under approved arrangements.

Actual employer examples — keep each country and notice separate

Essential, desirable and other conditions retain the author’s source classification. An empty category means no separate requirement was established in the reviewed source, not that employers have no requirements. Historical or closed notices are examples, not current vacancies.

Official legal, licensing and occupational context

Employer preferences are not automatically law. Official guidance and occupational descriptions are not necessarily binding rules. Each source’s jurisdiction, scope and gaps below remain separate.

US certificate-holder example; not a universal manager licence

Section 119.65 specifies qualified management personnel for Part 121 certificate holders and addresses their documented authority and responsibilities. A contractor’s flight-operations manager title is not evidence that the person holds one of those certificate-holder positions. Employer appointment and any regulated nominated role must be checked separately; UAE applicability remains unresolved.

Limitations
Title 14 displayed current to 23 October 2026; eCFR is authoritative but unofficial. This does not establish that either vacancy is a required certificate-holder position. UAE appointment/dispatch requirements and the full US qualification framework remain unreviewed.
