Aviation data analyst — employer requirements guide
On this page — jump to a section
Aviation data analysts turn data into explanations that support business or operational decisions. The examples concern airline flight-operations reporting and airport air-service-development consultancy. These are not automatically AIM/aeronautical-data authoring roles, flight dispatch appointments or authority to make safety-critical operational decisions.
Educational review draft · 27 October 2026. Owner and subject review pending. This is not a qualification, admission decision or operational publication.
Job-specific employer examples below are separate from the broad sector guides. They are selected evidence, not an application service, a live vacancy feed, worldwide eligibility rules or an assessment of your circumstances.

Analysis and reporting work, with office or home-based arrangements set by the employer.
Actual employer examples — keep each country and notice separate
Essential, desirable and other conditions retain the author’s source classification. An empty category means no separate requirement was established in the reviewed source, not that employers have no requirements. Historical or closed notices are examples, not current vacancies.
[E114-VJ] Vietjet — Data Analyst Executive — Flight Operations Division
Mandatory and preferred wording are distinguished; ambiguous or unclassified conditions are not promoted to essential.
Employer essential requirements
Airline-industry/data-source knowledge, advanced Excel/PowerPoint and analytical/reporting communication.
Work rights in the United States or Australia.
Employer desirable requirements
Bachelor degree; network-planning/air-service-development, business-intelligence and remote-working experience; additional languages.
Other stated conditions
Individual-contributor role, not sales or client management.
Duties supported by this example
Air-service market analysis, airport business cases and dashboards.
Undated employer PDF; the date-like URL is not a verified publication date or evidence of current hiring.
Official legal, licensing and occupational context
Employer preferences are not automatically law. Official guidance and occupational descriptions are not necessarily binding rules. Each source’s jurisdiction, scope and gaps below remain separate.
Occupational learning reference, not overseas legal eligibility.
The occupation reference supports structured learning in data requirements, preparation, interpretation and responsible handling. It does not confer operational aviation authority or establish qualification equivalence for the named countries.
Occupational learning reference, not overseas legal eligibility.
Limitations
Local data-protection obligations, employer permissions and any safety-related function need separate confirmation.
Unresolved research and applicability
Two aviation-specific employer examples verified. Current openings and local legal/data-handling applicability remain unconfirmed. A generic airline-branded ride-hailing analytics post was excluded as not establishing aviation duties.
Explore a possible entry route
Choose the decision context: airline performance, airport market development and aeronautical information are different functions even when all use data. Identify who owns the data, who checks the analysis and who makes the final decision. Do not imply that a dashboard author is a dispatcher or operational controller.
Compare the two examples without flattening their requirements. One specifies a degree and a language benchmark; the other treats a degree as preferred. Record genuine analytical experience and any industry knowledge gap. Ask which datasets and tools can be learned after joining before paying for a branded course.
Build a small project using public, permitted or invented data. Document the question, definitions, missing values and what the dataset cannot establish. Keep personal and confidential operational data out. A portfolio should show reasoning and reproducibility, not claim a forecast is certain or suitable for flight decisions.
Learning exercises — not proof of professional competence
Create a fictional performance chart with a data dictionary and a short caveat about sample size and missing records. Include one alternative explanation for the pattern rather than presenting a correlation as a proven cause.
Write a reproducible analysis note describing input, cleaning decisions, checks and output. Use simple non-operational data; do not calculate aircraft performance, safety limits or live dispatch recommendations. Clearly label invented figures.
Preparation prompts — not reported interview questions
Preparation prompt: describe a time a result changed after you found a data-quality problem. Explain how you corrected the analysis and communicated the change honestly rather than hiding the earlier uncertainty.
Ask how the team validates data, approves metrics, protects sensitive information and reviews reports before decisions. These are preparation prompts, not claimed employer interview questions.
Progression to investigate
Investigate a defined analytics, business-intelligence or planning specialism after relevant experience. Moving into regulated operational work or AIM requires separate qualifications, competence and permissions where applicable.
Scope and review limits
Educational requirements guide, not operational instruction, an appointment decision or an employment guarantee. Owner, subject and beginner review remain pending.
Conditions belong to the named employer, post and jurisdiction. Check current vacancies and the relevant authority before making training or application decisions; these examples do not establish worldwide eligibility.
